The children who participated in the competition were happy afterwards and ready to do more.
This Sunday, December 13, 2024, was the first competition after the new leadership was established under Ishimwe Valens. It was a competition that was supposed to be held in October, but it did not take place because the teams refused to participate due to the leadership they did not want.
Today, 28 teams from Rwanda participated, with 64 players, who played in both exhibition and combat sports. All teams participated after training for a long time to be able to perform well.
The new president Ishimwe Valens thanked the teams that participated and many of them participated in these games again after a long time, some of whom did not know what was going on in their Kung-fu association
One of the parents we spoke to accompanied his child, praising the way the games were organized and saying that his children love this game of Kung Fu, and he supports them, which is why he accompanied them to watch them play.

“Apart from not having anything to give to your child, otherwise you would do everything you can for him, I accompanied him now so that he can see that you support and I will continue to support him in this game, and wherever they play, I have the ability to be there, I will be nearby, and I promised him that.” They say.
He continued by talking about how the Committee’s absence made the game go poorly because it was often found that the child was not happy with the way they were helped to participate in these games, and what was more, it was found that he himself was gradually losing the motivation to continue participating in these games, and it was difficult for me to do things that the child did not often put in effort.
Kwizera Florient, one of the best players, praised the way the tournament went and returned after being banned for 4 years for not playing and the consequences of his club’s punishment, saying that since he returned to where he was pardoned by the new committee, he will perform better.
The punishment I received has affected me but I am ready to return to my normal life with the help of my coaches.
“I won various medals in the category related to self-expression (Tawulu), being banned for four years was the problem I faced that made me go back but my other coaches are close to me and I hope to improve more in my times as I used to play only my coaches are ready to help me in that“.He said.
President Ishimwe Valens said that they usually have three tournaments a year, which are the commemorative tournament, the tournament between the young (Junior kung-fu hushu) a tournament from 4 to 15 years old, followed by the Kung-fu Championship tournament which also toured the country but now it was held today.
We are ready to form a national team that will be in three categories.
“This tournament, when we finished, was touring the country, but due to the preparations for the elections to change the government, we had to send them to meet in Kigali because there had already been a new leadership change established by the members, and we have many programs that we are about to start to further develop this game.” He says.
The new leader has in his plan to prepare a national team that will be in three categories, the first category will be Sanda, this category will be related to fighting, the second category is Tawulu, which will be related to demonstration categories, the third category will be a children’s team because there is a world competition that we are preparing to hold in Africa in Senegal in 2026.
This competition was attended by the Ambassador of Chine to Rwanda and various other leaders, but especially those who were left out of the stadiums because of the previous leadership, and they also promised the new leadership to be close and promote this Kung Fu wushu game in Rwanda.
