19 cars from eight different countries, including Karan Patel, who won the Championship in 2023 and 2024, are expected to compete in the Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally to be held on July 10-12, 2026.

The Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally is a rally car race held in Rwanda, but is part of the African Championship of this sport, which this year precedes the Tanzanian Championship that will close the year of the games.
This competition is going to be held for the 26th time, the last time it was held in 2025 when it was won by Kenyan Samman Vohra Singh. It will be attended by racers from eight countries including Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, India and Burundi.
Four cars, including those of Karan Patel and Yasin Nasser, who won the 2025 African Championship, are competing in this year’s African Championship, while the other 17 will be from competitors in other stages of this African competition.
Three Rwandan cars are featured in the list that has been released: The Subaru Impreza of Kalimpinya Queen driven by Olivier Ngabo, the Subaru Impreza of Kanangire Christian driven by Kevin Mujiji and the Subaru Impreza of Gakwaya Claude driven by Claude Mugabo.
Kenyan Karan Patel, driving a Skoda Fabia R5, leads the African Championship with 83 points after performing well in Kenya and Uganda, while his brother Samman Singh Vohra is followed by 63 points and Yassin Nasser, who won the last Championship, is sixth with 34 points.
Rwandan Kanangire Christian, who participated in one race in Kenya, is in 10th place with 14 points while Kalimpinya Queen, who participated in one race in Uganda, is in 12th place with 11 points.
