Hari n’abasaba ko ubutumwa bwamamaza bwajya buherekezwa n’ubukangurambaga bwibutsa abaturage gukoresha ibyo bicuruzwa mu rugero, cyane cyane ibirimo isukari nyinshi n’amavuta menshi. Bemeza ko ibi byafasha abantu gufata ibyemezo byubakiye ku makuru ahagije ku buzima bwabo.
Ku ruhande rw’inzego z’ubuzima, zikomeje kwibutsa abaturage ko kwirinda indwara zitandura bidashingiye ku kwirinda igicuruzwa kimwe gusa, ahubwo bishingira ku mibereho muri rusange irimo kurya indyo yuzuye, gukora imyitozo ngororamubiri buri gihe, kwirinda itabi no kunywa inzoga mu rugero.

Yakomeje avuga ko hari byinshi bikorwa ndetse byamamazwa byangiza ubuzima bw’abantu niyo mpamvu nk’umuryango utegamiye kuri Leta (Rwanda NCD Alliance) barabivuga ariko hagombye kuba Serivice ibemerera nyuma yo kugenzura ko ntacyo byangiza ku buzima bw’abantu.
Mu gihe ibikorwa byo kwamamaza bikomeje kwaguka no kugera ku bantu benshi, impaka ku ruhare rwabyo mu myitwarire y’abaguzi no ku ngaruka bishobora kugira ku buzima rusange zikomeje gufata indi ntera, aho benshi basaba ko inyungu z’ubucuruzi zajyana n’intego zo kubungabunga ubuzima bw’abaturage.

Abahanga mu buzima bavuga ko kugira ibinure byinshi mu mubiri, cyane cyane ibinure bibi (bad cholesterol), bishobora kongera ibyago byo kurwara indwara zitandura zirimo umuvuduko ukabije w’amaraso, indwara z’umutima n’imiyoboro y’amaraso ndetse n’izindi ndwara zifitanye isano n’imirire. Bagaragaza ko kurya indyo ituzuye irimo amavuta menshi no kudakora imyitozo ngororamubiri ari bimwe mu bituma ibyo byago byiyongera.
Ikigo cy’Igihugu cy’Ubuzima (RBC) gisanzwe gishishikariza Abanyarwanda kurya indyo yuzuye kandi iboneye, kugabanya isukari, umunyu n’amavuta birenze urugero, gukora imyitozo ngororamubiri no kwirinda ibindi bishobora kongera ibyago byo kurwara indwara zitandura. RBC igaragaza ko impinduka mu mibereho no mu mirire ari imwe mu ngamba zikomeye zo gukumira indwara zirimo diyabete, umuvuduko ukabije w’amaraso n’indwara z’umutima.
